Alternate quote of the day

15 Sept 2007

Hello, its been a while

Hi all you bloggie readers out in cyberland

Mr Blenders here back hard at work in India
Well have to pay for the big day out after all.
Liz did a wonderful job on all the organisation
I just got the cheque book out , so thanks easyjet for the monies, it all helped to make a special day.

The big wedding bus was hired for the fortnight to clear out the junk from the garden at the house in Biggleswade, lots of trips to recycle eveything.
Here in India they seem to recycle just about everthing
Plastic bottles, newspapers and cardboard are all bundled up by Bunty and he trots off down the road, with a slip signed by Mr Blenders to allow him out the complex with it
He gets a few ruppees for his efforts from where ever it is he goes though, now thats the way to encourage it in the UK , but do you think it will ever happen ?

Liz and Paul were really chuffed with the wedding day transport, old dad teasing again about tandem rickshaws on the hill around the fort and look what they ended up with. Not bad for a drive along the coastal road but really glad we didn't meet the double decker bus in it.
We did hold up Mr Cody and party on a small lane, and Mrs Pimms offered to spank his bottom for being late when they arrived at the fort.
He escaped though as the bride was the compulsory 10 mins late.

Tried to get a new lead to download lots of piccies, out of luck in Gurgaon , will try tomorrow and if in luck, well you had better be prepared for lots.

Fun had in the high commision , monday for another years work visa.
All prepared with
1-Passport
2-Form filled out in black ink
3-Letter from company
4-Contract
5-Birth certificate ( just in case)
6-Drivers licence
7-Tax certificate ( yes I do pay that here )
8-Residence agreement with the 100rps cover on it.
9-£50 for the visa fee
Well I hadn't foreseen that all blogs should have a top 10 and missed out on the
10-Request for a DGCA letter ?

Tried to explain that I am not a pilot or Engineer who certifies Aircraft and will not be working for the DGCA but an airline in a Senior Management role, helping my friends out in India.
Went home without a visa.
Well flight wasn't till Tuesday night anyway and the train journeys not bad
My boss was very supportive and asked what it was like to be out of a job then? All in jest!

Next day , same people, 5 minutes later with no questions and bingo, I can have the visa.
All told , it only took around 6 hrs, so be prepared to do less sightseeing when you go to get one.

Back to a very, very, dirty house and some strange growth in the kitchen sink!
We were leaving the back door key for Bunty , so he could use the kitchen but in the early morning rush, oh nearly 4 weeks ago.
"Sir had not moved the bolts off the door".
Never mind, it kept him busy mumbling about some extra cleaning up.
Power had been cut and had to throw away the stuff in the freezer.

That magic thing has also started to happen once again as Mrs Pimms is not here, you know the one where you put your dirty clothes in the washing basket and by the next morning you find them all hung up neatly , having been washed and ironed by the dhobi fairies.

Cars been de-dented and had a respray, lasted three days as noticed a score down the back when I parked at the Cargo , yes I drove as still waiting for a new driver.
Interviews on Tuesday
Does anyone remember Whicker's World many years ago showing a Indian Driving test?
7 people and the examiner climbed into the car and drove 100 yards in a straight line , everyone passed!
Times have changed here in India.

"and now time for something completely different" The top 4
1-Once round the block, armed with a ruler ready to clip knuckles if the horn gets tooted excessively!
2-Marker pen to write a Big L and R on the back of respective hands if we take a wrong turn
3-A little bit of Hinglish as he will have to take Maam around to all the S&M that goes on here ( sewing and meeting) in Delhi and Gurgaon.
4-Daily clean and weekly check of the tyres, oil, water ect , how do you do it.

Not too much to ask for?

Namaste
Mr Blenders
